Dear Parent/Guardian,
I want to inform you of several important scheduling and counseling activities that will provide you with valuable information. This will assist you in planning your child’s high school schedule for next year and for attending college or other post secondary programs.
High School Scheduling Timeline
December 11 - High school and eighth grade teachers complete their initial recommendations for students’ placement in core subject areas (English, mathematics, social studies, science, world language, and learning support).
January 11-12 - Course selection presentations for underclassmen at the High School. Program of Studies and related materials will be distributed.
January 13 - Course selection presentations for eighth grade students at the Middle School. Program of Studies and related materials will be distributed.
January 13 - Parent Scheduling Information Meeting, High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Guidance Counselors will present information about the scheduling process to parents of current 8th-11th grade students. Department chairs will be available to address specific questions. Snow date will be January 14th at 7:00 p.m.
January 19-29 - Elective selection to be completed on-line via Skyward Family Access. Students will receive instruction as well as an opportunity to complete elective selection in school throughout the week.
January 29 - Deadline for students to complete elective requests on-line.
Financial Aid Night - Wednesday, January 6th at 7:00 p.m.
The Guidance Department will host our annual Financial Aid Night in the high school auditorium for parents and students. Our speaker will be Ms. Judy Rile, Director of Financial Aid at Penn State Berks Campus. Her presentation will include: overview of the financial aid process; procedures used to determine financial aid eligibility; loan programs; completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and, opportunity to ask specific questions about financial aid.
College Fair - Wednesday, March 10th from 8:30-10 a.m.
Representatives from over 100 colleges and trade schools will be in attendance to provide 10th and 11th grade students with information regarding their institutions. Parents are welcome to attend.
College Information Night -Tuesday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m.
This program is designed to provide juniors and their parents with important information on beginning the college application process. A college admission representative will give an overview of selecting a college, completing applications, adhering to timelines, and other practical advice.
